Portland Wedding & Elopement Photographer | What It Actually Feels Like to Work With Me

If you've been searching for a Portland wedding or elopement photographer and every website is starting to look the same, I get it. The galleries blur together. The pricing pages feel cold. And somewhere between the third inquiry form you've filled out you start wondering if any photographer actually sees you as more than a booking.
I want to tell you what working with me actually feels like. Not the highlight reel version. The real one.
It starts before we ever meet.
Before your wedding day we will hop on a zoom call about 1-2 months out to go over timeline and where to fit in those intentional photo moments, I send you a questionnaire. Not a generic one, something designed to help me understand how you two actually are together. How you move. What makes you laugh. Whether you're the couple that's always touching or the couple that communicates entirely through eye contact.
From that I build you a custom mood board. Made specifically for you. Not pulled from a template or recycled from someone else's session. Something that reflects your energy, your style, and the feeling we're going for together.
You also get my full wedding prep guide as soon as you are officially booked, this goes over timelines, vendors, each important piece of your day, and how to actually feel confident in front of a camera. By the time your big day arrives you already know what to expect. That matters more than most people realize.
On the day itself I mostly stay out of your way.
I know that sounds counterintuitive. But here's the thing, I can't manufacture what you already have. I can only create the conditions for it to show up.
So I give you a prompt. And then I step back.
I let you be. I watch. I wait for the moment where you forget I'm there, and that's when I start shooting. The laugh that comes out of nowhere. The way he looks at you when you're not looking back. The quiet in between that says everything.
When I need to step in for something more editorial, a beautifully composed shot, a specific moment I'm chasing, I do. I love those shots just as much as the candid ones. Usually we get both.
And before we're done I hand you something tangible.
A couple Polaroids. Warm from the camera. Already yours.
For wedding clients there's a Polaroid album mini book waiting for you at the end of everything, something physical to hold when the day feels far away.
You'll have sneak peeks within 24 hours because I know you'll be obsessively checking your phone. Your full gallery arrives within 2-3 weeks for sessions and on your 1 month anniversary for weddings.
(Industry standard is 6-10 weeks), I knew walking into capture weddings that wasn't going to be me, I am simply someone who is too impatient. This is why I take a limited number of weddings/elopements intentionally each year so you get my full attention and a quick turnaround so you can relive your wedding day faster than most!
The couples I work best with.
They're not looking for perfect. They're looking for true.
They want photos that actually feel like their relationship, not posed, not performative, not entirely pulled from a Pinterest board. They want to look back at their gallery ten years from now and feel something.
They're the couple who is genuinely in it. Who chose an intimate wedding or elopement because the day is about them, not the guest list. Who books an engagement session not just to get photos but because they want the experience.
If you've been reading this and nodding... I think we'd work really well together.
